#470572 The model has white rims..............

Which I assumed was correct as CSX2345 raced in 1965 and at the race would have run on the same wheels and tires as as the #22 Daytona Coupe (CSX-2299)

Interestingly, it sits in the Shelby American Museum with white wheels on the front and dark wheels on the back. The only FIA Cobra I remember running those dark wheels in 1965 was the car (CSX2286) Gurney ran at Le Mans.

CSX2345 did race and win at the Rossfield Hillclimb with that same #21 so the model really could be either car and it is possible that with Rossfield being a later race that the dark wheels, perhaps with bigger tires found their way on to the car. I'll have to ask them the next time I visit the Museum. And no I'm not buying another 1:12 scale car but if anybody ever makes a 1965 FIA roadster in 1:18 I'll definitely add the Bondurant hillclimb winner to my collection - even if I have to do my own livery.

If you recall this roadster was originally shown as part of the Exoto group package of 1965 FIA winning Cobras. The model seems to be identical to the GMP models - have no idea why Shuco would pick up the mold just to make this car but was very happy they did as it filled a pretty important hole in my collection.
