on that model my goal would be keep the wheel diameter and tire profile somewhat close to what was typical in that time period whether I used wire wheels, mag style or some other wheel design.

Something about a classic car with large diameter wheels and tires with a super low profile creates a disconnect that my brain can't handle. :-)

On the other hand, I think I recall Chip Foose using modern sized wheels and low profile tires on some of his customizations of old cars and a lot people like his stuff so my opinion is probably in the minority and should likely be disregarded.
