Too costly licenses, too few cars sold, too large stocks left over, too few buyers after all the crisises in 2008-2010, steep price rises in the China factories.
Or just changes in the Mattel HQ.
Just went to Wiki to learn why Mattel is named Mattel.
The founders simply were (nick-)named Matt and Elliot.
