#468901my dads who was a professional drag racer and car builder during these years. First a blown hemi from oil pan to scoop is four feet high and there is no front suspension to be in the way of, simply a straight axle. The intent was as the front of the car raises it puts more down force to the rear wheels. Even the angle of the driveline comes into play. Right or wrong, smart or stupid it just was the thought of some builders at the time. An example of this, dad raced a '68 Camaro big block, it was fast in the day but had a California rake, higher in the rear and it was an 11 second car. Someone advised him to change the front springs to a small block spring and install spacers which he did. The car was uglier setting higher in the front than the rear but it became a 10 second car. Many things have changed especially aero dynamics and better knowledge of technology. You guys lived through this era, come on.
