The only opponent was the MB, which wasn't called S-class then.
It is so weird that Opel lost all their markets, while they were so diverse and successful in the 60s and 70s.
Mind, the TransAm is nearly this big.
And the Diplomat version (sealed available by Norev and MCG) sported a Chevy 5.4 V8 instead of the straight 6.
