I don't know whether or not the movie car was sanded. I know there were two cars used, one for the stunt driver and one for close-ups with McQueen. The one used by McQueen was used as daily driver after it was sold and the finish became very weathered after years of use.

In any case, I don't mind the slight differences on the KK like the chrome trim on wheel wells. As long as the model reminds me of the movie that's all I need.
