#445267 Accuracy

You have to admit that this board is quick to take a manufacturer to task over any accuracy issue. What is surprising is the sloppiness of manufacturer research before producing a model. The next thread about Jaguar Heritage is case in point .....however.....in defense of both parties, stuff happens in the licensing agreements, up to and including cost. Now, some items, like color are 'no cost' corrections......BUT anything requiring a tooling rework is cost...so, If a model is contractually due for release, and a detail change would add either delay or cost, neither is good for the manufacturer or the rights holder.....so 'ya go with the flow' and we get what we see. Not an excuse.....just fact.....
Most license holders are not picky enough to halt production over even a no cost change. They are more interested getting the model to market for the sake of P.R.
Don't know about today's rates, but back in the GMP days Penske only got about $5 per model produced as royalty....not much at all.And all of this is handled by a .'business manager' who had much bigger fish to fry......I guess this means that accuracy will generally stay a backburner item.
