#442204 You need to look at the car in an 80's design context....

As an 80's car I think it was successful in conveying a very futuristic design. Kinda like the American Vortex super car of the day, but a much more polished design that included a good amount of branding cues (like the ribbed SEL tail lights) which were a typical detail of their cars back then.
Short and stubby? I would consider it muscular without superfluous overhangs instead. Heck, it looks like you could put numbers on it, add on a few aero enhancements (spoilers and wings) and go racing with it.......
As for the "hubcap" style wheels, it was not unusual for BB wheelset to look like such as they were going for a "clean" disc aero look for a lot of their wheels.....
I do consider the left side only pipes to be a bit strange, maybe ting to hard to emulate the racing 300 coupes and roadsters from the 50's. Surely a forced marketing design move.....
I think this will be my next model buy, before it dissappear from the market. I like the 1:1 enough that m,aybe I can forgive the bad rear suspension detail on the model
