#440749 The clock is finally ticking – I hope

My collection is centered around Sportscar racing in the late 50’s to early 70’s. That means it covers the rise to domination by Ferrari, the fight between Ferrari and Ford and the eventual victory and domination by Porsche. In my mind the biggest holes in my collection were the missing Ferrari cars at the beginning the early and late MKI Ford GTs and the missing Porsche cars that evolved from the 904 to the 917.

Others may hate them, but thanks to resin, the holes are being filled. BBR and others are filling in the late 50’s to early 60 Ferrari models and Spark has given us the 68 & 69 Ford GT’s and the 1968 Porsche 907 long tail. I expect that Spark will continue with the long tail Porsche models and give me the one most coveted by me, the 908 coupe that raced to a second place at Le Mans in 1969.

I’m also hoping that when BBR gets finished making the last of the front engine 250/330 TR cars that they will make the 250P spyder that won the race in 1963. This was the first of the mid-engined Ferrari prototypes that dominated FIA racing until the massive seven liter cars from the USA showed up. It seems like everybody and his uncle has built, or will be building, the Ferrari 250LM but it was the spyder prototypes that dominated the sport - not the coupe – yes I know a 250LM won Le Mans in 1965, but I also know that not none of the models made to date, or being planned, is an accurate representation of that car.

Now there are a lot of other cars I would love to get – like the early MKI Ford GT’s or the Chaparral 2D or more late 60’s to early 70’s Alfa’s or some 3B Lola T70’s, but if I could get the 1963 Ferrari 250P and the 1969 Porsche 908 coupe, I’d be a very happy man.
