I don't have a carpet where I build/modify/correct my models either for the same reason.

You are smart to think about downsizing.
I am blessed with a big room and filled it up, with many models also on display in my office. Now am staring at the "Face of Downsizing" while I am still able to sell/package/and send my little treasures off for others enjoyment. Bummer. But it's not fair to leave a mess of models, for those who don't appreciate them, to disperse.
I have heard stories of 100's of valuable models ("considered just toys") just being dumped, literally, at ones passing.

BTW - Your blue Pilot Ferrari jumps right out at me. Have a beautiful 1/43ed scale by MakeUp sitting next to my desk.
That is a nice library next to your F40 too - so where are the Corvettes or are you just leaving them in the book?
