started a year ago, and the production approval was probably 2 years ago. You don't simply 'build' a new car. The process is long, and at times very arduous. What they showed was 'in the making' for a while. these things don't simply 'pop' into existence.
That said, to me it seemed like a natural progression of the current line........I don't think Cadillac is ready to gamble the whole shebang on a radical design. Even the Germans needed about 6-8 years to turn their designs around, and are still turning them . Give Caddy a chance, they'll get there
