#432002 The Eagles Race version being the first 917K 1:18 to....

.....be issued, was such a cool model for me when it did. I would have easily paid twice the amount I did for it, just because I waited so long for a 1:18 917. I was so excited that I ran from my car across a busy SF street without watching out for traffic (SF is one of the most dangerous Cities in the US for pedestrians) and was almost shaking when I paid for it in the Automobilia shop many years ago as I was afraid of the other collectors that might buy up the stock before I got there and I'd miss my chance to own one. Would not doubt if I crossed paths with Ben V that morning in the shop without knowing it, as I noticed other collectors were coming in the shop and asking for it.
But after the "McQueen" AA version came out, the shortcomings of the Eagles version really stood out with the ever lasting rocker panel seam that they never bother to get out of their molds and then the not so accurate shapes of the front fenders, lights and the seemingly too large/square cockpit greenhouse shape.....
At least it did not have a "glass" oil cooler at the nose, like the AA versions did....
That's why I knda find it not so easy to put down the Eagles race 917s all these years.....
