Both would be fixed to the car during the tire change stop. Best guess is that the wiper was a hindrence to visibility on track, perhaps mainly on the banking.
Now, if 'we' as a forum say it's hard to find conclusive images, and 'we' have more than one person doing the search, why should we expect things to fare better for Spark ?
If they came up with 3 or four images of the car with the black OR white banner that were labeled as 'Daytona 1989', they would have been satisfied that these were correct. This is an ongong issue with historic subjects in any field.
Conclusive documentation can be such a burden to find.
