#419867It may be too complex and too fragile to make sense as a mass produced model. The bar has gone too high.
Trying to make true scale replicas of things like latches and hinges is just asking for trouble unless you are making them for a world with one eighteenth the gravity and collectors who are one eighteenth the size.
This is just like the tissue paper thin straps and buckles on some other top end cars that collectors must decide to either leave open or closed because it is not possible to open and close them more than a few times before they tear apart.
It seems like in the case of this car every part is just one slip away from breakage.
Maybe the roundel is a stick-on because the body is too fragile for the tampo graphic machinery.
Whatever the case, it seems like Exoto needs to rethink their packaging approach. We all marvel at how secure their new packaging is but the truth seems to be that even if the model survives shipment it is too fragile for even experienced collectors to assemble without breaking it. Then again, if it was sent fully assembled we would likely break something trying to examine it.
This model seems to be too good for its own good.
